Liam Payne, former member of the band One Direction, has passed away at the age of 31 in Argentina after reportedly falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires.
Payne’s body was found in the hotel's courtyard, and emergency services confirmed his death at the scene. According to Alberto Crescenti, director of SAME, Buenos Aires Emergency Medical Services, Payne fell about 13 to 14 meters (roughly 42 to 45 feet), suffering fatal injuries. Emergency responders arrived within minutes but could not save him due to the severity of his condition.
Hours before the incident, Payne had posted on Snapchat about enjoying a "lovely day" in Argentina.
He was also spotted attending a concert by his former One Direction bandmate, Niall Horan, earlier in the month.
Payne, born in Wolverhampton, UK, gained fame after his audition on The X Factor in 2008 and reappeared in 2010, where he became a member of One Direction. The group achieved massive success globally, with multiple number-one albums and singles.
After the group went on hiatus in 2015, Payne pursued a solo career, releasing hits like Strip That Down and collaborating with Rita Ora on the song For You - from the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack.
