Joric Canlas, the bassist of indie band The Ridleys, has announced that he is leaving the band.
In a new vlog, Canlas and the band members – lead singer Benny Manaligod, lead guitarist Jan De Vera, and drummer Bryant Ayes – shared the news with their fans.
They said it was bittersweet to see Joric go, but they are supportive of his decision to follow his own dreams. They also made it clear that Joric will always be a part of The Ridleys’ history.
Joric expressed his gratitude in the video, saying the nine years with the band went by quickly. He encouraged his bandmates to keep pushing forward and assured fans that the band’s journey isn’t over just because he’s leaving.
The Ridleys are planning a farewell concert for Joric, with details coming soon. Fans can stay updated through the band’s social media.
Recently, The Ridleys celebrated their 9th anniversary with two sold-out shows at the Music Museum.
They also released their latest album, All These and More, in August 2024, which has been praised for its emotional depth and includes the hit song “Be With You.”
Although Joric is leaving The Ridleys, he is still active in his other band, Over October. He and his bandmates recently shared photos from a recording session in Baguio.
