After eight years in the P-pop scene, MNL48 has officially announced that they will be ending their activities by the end of May 2026.

The decision came after management said it had become difficult to sustain the group’s operations and future activities moving forward. As their final project, the group released a new version of their hit song “Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie” as a heartfelt thank-you to fans who supported them throughout their journey.

The management also apologized to fans for the outcome, saying they did their best to support the girl group prior to its disbandment.

Also known as one of the pioneers of P-pop idol culture, MNL48 is the Philippine sister group of AKB48. The group also made history as the only sister group in the franchise to debut with a full lineup of 48 members. Some of their popular songs include Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie, 365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel, High Tension, and Ikaw Ang Melody.

Over the years, MNL48 introduced members from the first hanggang fifth generation, with fans getting to know idols like Abby Trinidad, Sheki Arzaga, Coleen Trinidad, and Jem Caldejon, among many others.
